Lousã and EL Toboso get together through video conferencing
On May 16th students and teachers of the Portuguese school Escola Básica nº2 da Lousã and of the Spanish School C.P. Miguel de Cervantes - EL TOBOSO had the opportunity to get in touch by videoconferencing . During the session, we haven’t just talked, but we had a music time, according to the suggestion of teacher María Jesús. The Portuguese students sang “Saias raianas” ( a traditional song from Alentejo), with the help of our Music teacher Maria Otília, and we also listened to our Spanish friends singing in their mother tongue. Then our colleagues from class D, who are learning Spanish read a poem in Spanish, the poem is called “April and Silence”, by the Swedish poet Tomas Tranströmer, Nobel Prize in Literature 2011. We have chosen this poem because it is about spring. In our opinion, this event was very interesting, not only because we could talk in English and Spanish, but also because we had the opportunity to meet our colleagues in the project “Children and Reporters” and we found out that we have similar interests and hobbies, mainly the ones related to football. We hope we can have more opportunities like this one. Thanks to the teachers for making it possible. Pedro Tomás, Class C, 7th grade, EB nº2 da Lousã (Portugal)

Celebrating Europe Day - Lousã School (Portugal)
On May, 9th we celebrated Europe Day at our school. Our colleagues from class 9Th A have done some research work about Croatia, so they organized an exhibition at our library with the help of their ICT teacher and of the European Club teacher. During the morning break they presented us a typical dance from Croatia, the music was performed by the Music teachers and students of the 5th and 6th grades. At our Library another activity is also going on during this week – it is called “3 or more voices reading”: students, teachers and parents choose different texts to read aloud in Portuguese, English, French, and Spanish or in other languages. This morning our colleagues from class 7thC – Rui, Tomás and Patrícia have read an excerpt of Chapter II of The Hound of the Baskervilles, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle – they have read it in English and in Portuguese. Today, during the break teachers, students and Librarians could also taste a cake – a ”Europe Day Cake”, made by our Cookery club students and teachers, it was decorated with the stars of the European Flag and it was delicious! Constitution Day in Poland
Contitution Day we celebrate on the third of May – that's because on 3rd May 1791 the first constitution in Poland and in Europe was signed by Stanislaw August Poniatowski the last king of Poland and Stanislaw Malachowski. The constitution was created for four years by Polish Parliament.
Every year in Poland we celebrate it as a very important patriotic festival. It's a bank holiday in Poland. On 2nd May we celebrate the Flag's Day. At school before these festivals an assembly takes place to remember our Polish May Festivals. Kacper K. , class 6b, SP9 Dzierżoniów

Dental prevention
| Make your own free digital scrapbooking design |
The teeth are alive and if you do not treat them well are being felt. The teeth are used to chew the food in our intestines, do not send it in one piece. We also need to talk, because the language has to slam on something, so if we did not have the teeth we could not speak. There are different types of teeth: incisors, canines, premolars and molars. The incisors and canines are used for cutting. We can compare them with a knife. The molars and premolars, instead, are used to grind food and we can compare them with a nutcracker. Teeth change throughout the life cycle. Around the age of six years are twenty teeth, by contrast, adults are thirty. We must learn to take care of the teeth from an early age otherwise if you do not grow them rot. It's good rule of eating healthy foods: meat, eggs, fish, vegetables while sweets in moderation. Milk is the most complete food because it contains proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, food all profits to the vitality of the tooth.
The golden rules for healthy teeth
1) Make checks every six months to the dentist.
2) Brush your teeth after every meal.
3) Brush your teeth for two minutes
4) Change your toothbrush every month
5) Use a fluoride toothpaste
6) Brush the teeth starting from the gums to the teeth by holding the mouth open
7) Use a small brush head with soft bristles
